Cross Country teams 3rd at Sewanee Invitational

Both the Centre men's and women's cross country teams finished third at the Sewanee Invitational on Saturday, September 4 in Sewanee, Tenn.  The Sewanee Invitational was the opening meet for both the Centre men's and women's cross country team.

On the men's side Centre had three runners finish in the top ten.  Senior Clinton Cahall (Georgetown, Ohio) led the way for the Colonels as he finished third with a time of 26:42.14.  Freshman John Kieffer (Dublin, Ohio) had an impressive first meet for Centre as he took fourth overall completing the race in 26:49.65.  Senior Sam Morgan (Danville, Ky.) took seventh place in the meet recording a time of 27:19.49.

Junior Graham Campbell (Cincinnati, Ohio) was 15th overall with a time of 27:48.22 and sophomore Will Troy (Ithaca, NY) rounded out the top five for Centre recording a time of 28:41.03.

Emory University and Rhodes tied for first overall with 53 total points, while Centre had 55 points.

Sophomore Annie Wigginton (Bloomfield, Ky.) came in first for the Centre women's cross country team, placing 19th overall with a time of 24:05.79.  Junior Paige Farris (Mayfield, Ky.) finished the race in 24:28.59 to take 22nd place, while junior Bekah Rehkamp (Florence, Ky.) was 23rd overall recording a time of 24:48.17.

The Centre women's team also saw a good performance from a freshman as Camille Seger (Lebanon Junction, Ky.) was 28th, as she finished in 25:14.93.  Senior Haley Gray (Lexington, Ind.) was 31st with a time of 25:22.27.

Emory University led the women's meet with 25 total points and Rhodes was second with 33 points.  Centre finished with 114 points.

The Centre men's and women's team will next compete on Saturday, September 11, as they host their annual home meet, the Centre Invitational in Danville, Ky.
