Centre Volleyball Over Hendrix in Five

On the road at Hendrix, the Centre Volleyball Team escaped with a win:  The Colonels were outscored by 11 points in the match; but fortunately for Centre, the third game of the three in which they managed only 15 points was Game 5; and Hendrix had just 13 at the time.  "We played well at some key times," according to Head Coach James Neyhouse, "and for this match that was just good enough."
When the offense clicked, there were several pistons firing.  Lydia Prevost, the junior from Knoxville, TN, had 12 kills and hit .417, while sophomore Suzanne Asbury (Louisville, KY) and freshman Beth Cecil (Bardstown, KY) each recorded 10 kills; and junior Catherine Janszen (Cincinnati, OH) was good for eight.  Freshman Jessica Peak, from Owensboro, KY, had one of her best showings to date when she hit .400 with six kills.  Again facilitating her hitters' efforts, junior Kary Stivers (Louisville, KY) contributed 24 assists.  Neyhouse has been inserting Abbi Jacobi (Louisville, KY) at times when Centre has won back service, and the freshman's jump serve against Hendrix was good for two aces, a total matched by Stivers.
Prevost, in addition to leading the Colonels in kills and hitting efficiency in this match, also paced Centre with four blocks.  With two each were Asbury and junior Kimberly Lownds (Evergreen, CO).
Senior Jenna Foushee (Louisville, KY) continues to be frequently in the right place at the right time on defense.  The result in this contest was another 24 digs.
