Millsaps Stops Volleyball Cold

This afternoon the Millsaps volleyball team hosted Centre, and left little doubt about who the better team was today:  It was Millsaps in three in a match that saw Centre manage a point total of only 49.  The conference defeat was the Colonels' first after running off three wins to open play in the new Southern Athletic Association.

As might be expected in such a contest, most of the impressive statistics were recorded by Millsaps, who displayed a very sharp brand of ball.  Defensively, junior Caherine Janszen (Cincinnati, OH) had 14 digs, and senior Jenna Foushee (Louisville, KY) added 11.

Three players, sophomores Suzanne Asbury (Louisville, KY) and Celia Moser (Troy, OH), and freshman Beth Cecil (Bardstown, KY) each had a handful of kills.  Kari Stivers (Louisville, KY) produced 11 assists and two service aces.

"In several matches recently, our team has played well; and the result has been victories in which many players made major contributions," stated Head Coach James Neyhouse.  "Millsaps is justified in taking full credit for the way that they competed against us; but we can react better - much better – and we expect to prove that tomorrow."  That test will be at Birmingham Southern.
