The Centre women's soccer team stayed perfect on the year, picking up a 2-0 win on the road at Maryville College on Tuesday in Maryville, Tenn.
It was a pair of first half goals that made the difference in the game for Centre. Freshman Maddie Slattery (Cincinnati, Ohio) got the Colonels on the board on an assist from Amy Hebbeler (Fort Wright, Ky.) in the 16th minute, then Centre added to the lead with a header by Liz Miller (Nicholasville, Ky.) off a corner kick by Slattery with seven minutes to go before halftime.
The Colonels held on to that 2-0 lead the rest of the way, preserving their seventh straight shutout and ninth of the season. Centre took 12 shots in the game to four for Maryville with Holly Hilton (New Palestine, Ind.) making one save for the Colonels while Michelle Foulke had five stops for the Scots.
The win also marked the 100th for Centre women's soccer with Jessica Chisley as an assistant coach.
"This is a very special win for the Centre women's soccer program," said head coach Jay Hoffman, who reached the 100-win milestone as head coach against Berry on Sept. 29. "We are so proud of her and all that she has done for this program."
Centre improves its record to 12-0 overall with the win while Maryville falls to 7-2-1. The Colonels return home for a conference match with Oglethorpe on Saturday.
