Colonels pick up 2-0 victory at Transylvania

The Centre women's soccer team picked up a 2-0 road victory at Transylvania on Wednesday in Lexington, Ky.

The victory helped Centre move to 6-0 on the season and was the Colonels' third shutout on the year. Through those six games, Centre has outscored its opponents 18-3. Transylvania drops to 3-2-1 with the loss.

The game stayed even through much of the first half before the Colonels broke through when Katie Stevenson (Flat Rock, N.C.) scored an unassisted goal in the 30th minute. Centre held onto that 1-0 lead until freshman Maddie Slattery (Cincinnati, Ohio) assisted Mary Taylor Kersey (Winchester, Ky.) on her team-leading fifth goal off a free kick in the 68th minute.

Though each team took nine shots in the game, Transylvania was unable to find the net the rest of the way. Centre's Megan Foley (Louisville, Ky.) had five saves in the match while Transylvania's Jerrica Scovel made two stops.

After picking up four wins on the road, Centre wraps up its stretch of six straight road games this weekend when it travels to face Denison on Saturday and Mount St. Joseph on Sunday.
