Women's lacrosse bounces back with 9-3 win at Kenyon
The Centre women's lacrosse team bounced back from a Saturday loss by finishing its weekend road trip with a 9-3 win over Kenyon on Sunday in Gambier, Ohio.
Each team managed just one goal in the first half before Centre began to pull away in the second. The Colonels scored twice in the first minute of the second half and went on to score six straight to pull ahead 7-1.
Kenyon scored twice to cut the margin to 7-3 at the 5:00 mark, but Centre was able to answer with two more goals to preserve the win.
Also scoring goals for the Colonels were Claiborne Willis (Nashville, Tenn.) and Sarah Mastey (Chattanooga, Tenn.), who also had the team's lone assist. Allison Eisner (Louisville, Ky.) saved 16 of the 19 shots she faced in goal for Centre.
The Colonels won despite being outshot 30-26 and Kenyon holding a 10-4 advantage in draw controls. Each team made 21 turnovers and picked up 25 ground balls.
Centre returns home for weekend games with Sewanee at noon Saturday and Dallas at 10 a.m. Sunday.
