Hawthorne receives award from Synapse Sports

Centre freshman Meg Hawthorne (Cary, N.C.) has been named the Synapse Sports Rookie-of-the-Week.

Hawthorne helped the Colonels open their inaugural season by going 2-0 on the season following wins over Berry College on Saturday, February 26 and Agnes Scott on Sunday, February 27.

The Colonels beat Berry 16-13. During the match Hawthorne posted seven goals on 11 shots and recorded three ground balls. She also had one caused turnover in the win.

Centre then beat Agnes Scott by a score of 16-4 and Hawthorne found the back of the cage five times on five shot attempts. She had grabbed five ground balls on the afternoon and went 5-6 in face-offs.

Next up for the Colonels will be the teams first home game against Missouri-Baptist on Friday, March 4 at 4:00 p.m. in Danville, Ky. All home games for the Centre women's lacrosse team will take place at Farris Stadium.
