For the second time in program history, the Centre women's golf team is ranked second in Division III according to the most recent Golfstat poll.
The Colonels achieved the #2 ranking in the October 3 Golfstat poll after a decisive victory in the Centre Ladies' Invite was added to their already impressive resume.
The Golfstat formula works so that teams inherit wins made by opponents they have beaten. If team A beats team B, then team B beats team C, then team A gets credit for a win over team C even if the two teams have not played head to head. As of the October 3 Golfstat poll, the Colonels have been credited with 149 wins out of a possible 151, with the two losses coming against Methodist and Washington University, who finished ahead of Centre at the O'Brien National Invitational.
The strength of Centre's team this year has been its balance. With the team having to replace four-time All-American Emily Bachert '12, everybody on the team has stepped up, with four different players shooting low rounds at the three tournaments the Colonels have played so far. "I am so proud of this team. Centre has never had a team this strong," said head coach/director of golf Bruce Brown. "They are such a solid group with unlimited talent."
The Centre women's golf team will be back in action on October 7 at the Southern Shootout, hosted by Birmingham Southern.
