Colonels tied for seventh at NCAA Championship

The Centre women's golf team finished its first day of competition at the NCAA Division III Women's Golf Championship at Zollner G.C. in Angola, Ind., hosted by Trine University. After stumbling down the stretch, the Colonels are tied for seventh after posting a combined team score of 317.

Williams College is in first place after day 1 with a score of 307. 13-time defending champion Methodist is in second with a score of 310. After that, only six shots separate third place from tenth place, with the Colonels tied with Mary Hardin-Baylor and schools such as DePauw, Wisconsin-Eau Claire, St. Olaf and George Fox among the pack.

Individually, senior Emily Bachert (Bowling Green, Ky.) led Centre with a low score of 76. Sophomore Allison Hancock (Paris, Ky.) posted a score of 79 while freshman Michaela Manley (Shelbyville, Ky.) added a score of 80. Junior Whitney Miller (Lexington, Ky.) and freshman Alyssa Brown (Chattanooga, Tenn.) rounded out the scoring for Centre with respective scores of 82 and 86.
