Centre golf teams win their annual Spring Invitational
On the men's side, Centre senior Chris Morris was the individual winner, taking the medalist honor with a score of 72.
Senior Lyndon Jones (Taswell, Ind.) took second place in the event with a 74 and sophomore Kenyon Cook (Lexington, Ky.) was third after shooting a 76. Sophomore Grant Hinton (Elizabethtown, Ky.) tied for fourth place after he completed the round of play with a 77. Rounding out the top five for the Colonels was sophomore Patrick Davidson (Louisville, Ky.) who recorded an 81.
Finishing in second behind Centre was Spalding University with a 319 and Thomas More took third place with an overall score of 329. Hanover College came in fourth place with a team score of 335.
The Centre men's team will next compete in the 2011 Emory Spring Invitational on Monday and Tuesday, April 11-12 in Stone Mountain, Ga. at the Stone Mountain Park Golf Course.
Junior Emily Bachert (Bowling Green, Ky.) and freshman Allison Hancock (Paris, Ky.) led the Centre women to victory, after they both posted an 80 on the afternoon. Senior Paige Burton (Frankfort, Ky.) had a third place finish with a score of 83. Sophomore Lauren Mashburn (Madisonville, Ky.) came in eighth place, following a 90. Rounding out the top five for Centre was freshman Catherine Parks (Salisbury, N.C.) who shot a 91 to come in ninth place.
Hanover College came in second place following a score of 361 and Transylvania University was third with a 396. Asbury had a team score of 406 to take fourth place.
The Centre women will next compete in the 2011 Illinois Wesleyan University Spring Fling on Saturday, April 16 and Sunday, April 17 in Normal, Ill. at the Ironwood Golf Course.
