Centre swim teams fall to Butler, IUPUI

The Centre Men's and Women's swim teams competed in a tri-meet Friday night in Indianapolis, Ind. against Butler and IUPUI. The men lost to IUPUI, while the women lost to Butler and IUPUI.

Sophomore Clark Weber (Louisville, Ky.) recorded the Colonels' only two wins of the contest, taking the 1000 yard freestyle with a time of 10:50.30 and the 500 yard freestyle with a time of 5:20.17.

Several Centre swimmers were denied victories in their races by the slimmest of margins. Senior Colleen Maggard (Paris, Ky.) finished second in the 50 yard freestyle by .19 seconds. Freshman Jess Pritchett (Louisville, Ky.) finished .12 seconds behind the winner in the men's 50 yard freestyle.

Senior Aaron Edwards (Henderson, Ky.) was .19 seconds short of a win in the 100 yard freestyle. Freshman Eric Thompson (Elizabethtown, Ky) was edged out by .20 seconds in the 100 yard butterfly.

The Colonels will look to get back on the right track on November 5 in a meet with Transylvania.
