Four named to All-SCAC Softball Team

In an exclusive voting by the league's head coaches, four Centre College softball players have been named to the 2012 All-SCAC Softball Team as announced by the SCAC.

Senior Regina Sena (Moss Beach, Calif.) and junior designated player Emily Meador (Scottsville, Ky.) were each named to the second team, while sophomore outfielder Ashley Christian (Kingsport, Tenn.) and freshman outfielder Molly Ely (Riverside, Ill.) were honorable mention selections.

Sena hit .282 in 37 games and led the team in doubles (12), home runs (5), RBIs (22) and walks. A second team pick in 2011 and an honorable mention selection in 2009, she was second in runs scored (24), on-base percentage (.413) and slugging percentage (.534). Sena was named the SCAC Player of the Week for week nine.

Meador's selection is her third in three years after being an honorable mention pick her first two years. The junior pitcher/designated player hit .278 in 35 games and also compiled a 3.82 ERA in 124.2 innings on the mound. Meador was second on the team with four home runs and tied for second with 10 doubles. She had a team-best .544 slugging percentage and also led the team in innings pitched, strikeouts (74), wins (9) and saves (2).

Christian was the team's top hitter at .385 in 130 at-bats. The sophomore posted team highs in runs scored (34), hits (50), triples (5), on-base percentage (.424) and stolen bases (22). Christian was named the league's player of the week following week four of the season.

Ely, a first-year outfielder, played in all 37 games and hit .275 in 109 at-bats. She tallied 30 hits, 16 runs scored, 17 RBIs, and six stolen bases in her first collegiate season. 

The Colonels finished the season 15-22 overall and 6-10 in the SCAC just missing qualifying for the SCAC Tournament.
