Men qualify for Nationals, Rehkamp advances for the women
The Centre men's cross country team finished in second place at the South/Southeast Regional Meet on Saturday, November 13 in Memphis, Tenn. to earn an automatic qualifying spot to the DIII National Championships. Junior Bekah Rehkamp (Florence, Ky.) qualified for Nationals after leading the Centre women's team to a fourth place finish at the South/Southeast Regional Meet.
Centre's men's team qualified for nationals as a team for the fifth time in the last seven years. Senior Clinton Cahall (Georgetown, Ohio) led the way for the Colonels with a second place finish completing the race in 25:04.
Freshman John Kieffer (Dublin, Ohio) was 14th overall with a time of 26:08. Senior Sam Morgan (Danville, Ky.) took 16th place recording a time of 26:14. Taking 22nd place was Graham Campbell (Cincinnati, Ohio) with a time of 26:18. Rounding out the top five for the Colonels was junior Jack Santos (Topsfield, Mass.) who finished in 51st place with a time of 26:59.
The Centre women's team had their highest Regional finish since the Colonels placed fourth in 2001. Junior Bekah Rehkamp (Florence, Ky.) qualified for the 2010 NCAA Division III Cross Country Championships after finishing in 12th place with a time of 22:53.
Junior Paige Farris (Mayfield, Ky.) was 31st overall after posting a time of 23:23. Sophomore Elizabeth Miller (Owensboro, Ky.) recorded a time of 23:56 to take 46th place. Sophomore Annie Wigginton (Bloomfield, Ky.) had a time of 24:05 to finish in 50th place and junior Loran Crowell (Salvisa, Ky.) rounded out the top five for the Centre women with a time of 24:11 to take 54th.
Nationals will take place on Saturday, November 20 in Waverly, Iowa. Wartburg College is hosting the event and the meet will be run at H. J. Max Championship Cross Country Course.
