Hall, Jackson win SCAC weekly soccer awards

Centre took both of the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference's weekly awards as senior forward Austin Hall (Indianapolis, Ind.) was named Offensive Player of the Week while senior goalkeeper Chris Jackson (Oxford, Ohio) was named Co-Defensive Player of the Week for matches played Sept. 12-18.

Hall is averaging a goal a game through six games, and continued to produce on the offensive end over the weekend with a pair of game-winning goals. On Saturday he converted a first half penalty kick in a 2-0 win at Wabash. Sunday, he scored on a left-footed shot as time was running out in the second overtime period, giving the Colonels a 1-0 win at Earlham just two seconds before the game would have ended in a scoreless tie.

Jackson was in goal for the Colonels for both of those games, earning two shutout victories. He made three saves in each of the games and has given up just one goal on the season for a GAA of 0.37. Jackson shared the weekly league honor with Brian Graf of Colorado College.

With the two victories, the men's soccer team is now 4-2 on the season. The Colonels return home this week for matches with Thomas More on Tuesday at 7 p.m. and Covenant on Saturday at 6 p.m.
