Men’s soccer prepares for exhibition matches with Mt. St. Joseph and Northern Kentucky

Centre Men's Soccer opens the season by taking on Division III opponent Mount Saint Joseph's at home on August 25th at 7:00 p.m.

The College of Mount Saint Joseph, a member of the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Association (HCAC), finished the 2010 season with a 3-14-1 overall record and eighth place finish in the HCAC. Centre traveled to Mount St. Joseph last season, taking down the Lions by a score of 3-1. The Lions have been picked to finish seventh in the 2011 HCAC preseason poll.

Two days later, the Colonels will be set to take on last year's NCAA Division II National Champions, Northern Kentucky University. The Norse, who took down Centre 3-1 in an exhibition match last season en route to their first ever NCAA Championship, travel to Danville, Ky. for a 7:00 p.m. kick-off on August 27th.

The Colonels, who are in the midst of preseason training, are primed and ready for their first two contests of 2011.

"Our guys are excited to play these two scrimmages and get the season going.  The team spirit is up and hopefully these two scrimmages prepare us for a strong start to the year," commented Head Coach Jeb Burch.

The regular season for Centre men's soccer kicks-off on Friday, Sept. 2nd at 7:30 p.m., with the Colonels taking on Alleghany College at the Oberlin College Invitational.
