Brown chosen to the 2011 SCAC All-Sportsmanship Team
Centre freshman Clayton Brown (Louisville, Ky.) has been named to the 2011 Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference All-Sportsmanship Team. Eight lacrosse players were selected to the squad.
Each head coach was asked to elect one member from their team who displayed good sportsmanship during the season.
Brown played a crucial role for the Colonels during their inaugural season. He was named to the All-SCAC Second Team for his efforts in the goal. Brown is currently ranked 25th in the nation and he finished third in the conference in saves per game (13.15). He played every minute for the Colonels during the season posting a total of 171 saves.
"Clayton did an outstanding job in the goal for us and we know how difficult it is to play as a freshman and Clayton was truly outstanding," stated Centre head coach, J.E. Bert Severns.
"He certainly deserves this recognition as he worked very hard in keeping our young defense focused and he did it in a very professional and team oriented manner. Clayton has a bright future here at Centre and I look forward to spending three more years with him," finished Severns.
The Colonels finished their inaugural season with an overall record of 3-10 and they went 2-5 in the SCAC.
