The Centre field hockey team lost its second straight one-goal game, falling 1-0 to Hendrix in a Southern Athletic Association game Sunday in Danville, Ky.
Though Centre spent much of the game on the attack and had several near misses, the Colonels were unable to find the cage. The Colonels outshot Hendrix 27-8 and put 12 of those on goal compared with two for the Warriors. The Colonels also held a 16-6 advantage in penalty corners.
Despite Centre holding many of the statistical edges, the lone goal in the game came when Maggie Despain of Hendrix scored on an assist from Kelly Rappe at the 17 minute mark in the first half.
Centre's Cece Lindsey (Louisville, Ky.) made one save in goal while Betsy Kelly had 12 saves for Hendrix.
Centre falls to 1-4 on the season and 1-2 in SAA play while Hendrix improves to 4-1 overall and 2-0 in the conference. Centre returns to the field with a non-conference game Saturday at Bethany.
