Three Colonels selected to field hockey all-region teams

Three Centre field hockey players were selected to the 2011 Longstreth/National Field Hockey Coaches Association Division III All-Great Lakes Region Team, the organization announced in a release Wednesday.

Senior back Jennifer Bohnert (Louisville, Ky.) and junior forward/midfielder Barbara Parks (Chapel Hill, N.C.) were selected to the first team while junior midfielder Sydney White (Louisville, Ky.) was named to the second team.

For Bohnert and Parks, it was the third time being named all-region and the second year in a row on the first team. Bohnert was named the Defensive Player of the Year in the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference and anchored a Colonels defense that allowed an average of 2.05 goals per game and posted three shutouts. Despite missing two games, Parks led Centre in goals with nine and tied for the team lead in points with 21 on the season.

White was a second team selection for the second year in a row after a season in which she had five goals and four assists for a total of 14 points.

The Colonels finished the season 11-8 overall with a 3-3 record in the SCAC and advanced to the SCAC championship game.
