Colonels drop season finale 11-3 to Oglethorpe

In its final game of the 2012 season, the Centre College baseball team fell 11-3 to Oglethorpe University Sunday, April 22 at Gary Wright Field in Danville, Ky.

Two errors in the first two innings led to four unearned runs and the Colonels found themselves in a 5-2 hole after two innings.

Sophomore Kyle Cook (Maineville, Ohio) accounted for the first two Centre runs. Cook hit a bases-loaded single in the bottom of the first for his team leading 26th and 27th RBIs of the season.

The Stormy Petrels added another pair of runs in the third and a solo tally in the fourth to extend the lead to 8-2.

Centre put the first two runners on in the fifth. Following a strikeout, junior Jason Osterman (Monroe, Ohio) doubled to drive in the third run of the game, but the Colonels would not score the rest of the way.

Oglethorpe added three in the eighth for the final 11-3 tally.

Junior pitcher Tommy Munoz (Ft. Myers, Fla.) was tagged with the loss. Munoz allowed seven runs - three earned - on nine hits in 2.2 innings.

Senior catcher Cameron Fishman (Northridge, Calif.) finished 2 for 3 in his final collegiate game of his career. Junior Danny Freudiger (Cincinnati, Ohio), also playing in his final collegiate game had a hit and scored two of Centre's three runs.

Centre finishes the season 14-24 overall and 4-10 in the SCAC.
