Cheerleading

Strength. Grace. Determination. Cheerleaders exhibit all of these traits. At Centre, cheerleaders are athletes and cheerleading is a sport. In addition to cheering at football and basketball games, the team also competes against other colleges at local and regional meets. At all of these events, the team displays its athletic ability through sideline cheers, partner stunts and gymnastics. To develop the strength and fitness necessary to meet these challenges, Centre cheerleaders train throughout the year.

The Cheerleading team’s main purpose is to support Centre Athletics.
A four-fold mission plan accomplishes this goal.
1 Raise the level of fan support for the athletics program by cheering at home and tournament football and basketball games.
2 Serve as an active, competitive sport within the athletics department.
3 Perform gymnastics, partner stunts, pyramids, and dance movements to keep the crowd attention/direction focused on the field/floor.
4 Provide public relations ambassadors for the college.

The Cheerleading program is designed to help you grow into a responsible, mature and independent adult. Specifically, the program is a means of improving your mental and physical well being through competition and exercise. The responsibilities of Cheerleading also develop self-confidence, leadership, and interpersonal skills.
