Matt Montavon joined the Centre sports information staff in 2011, and after serving in an assistant role, took over as Centre's full-time sports information director in 2013.
Montavon oversees publicity and statisics for the department's 23 sports while maintaining the Centre Athletics website and its social media platforms.
During Montavon's time at Centre, he has worked closely with 15
teams that have won conference championships and 11 that have made
NCAA Tournament appearances. In that time, Centre has also hosted
NCAA postseason events in football, basketball and soccer as well
as conference postseason events in basketball, soccer, lacrosse,
tennis, softball and field hockey. In the fall of 2011, Montavon
helped in the transition to the new Centre Athletics website.
Montavon also spent five years as a sports writer and sports editor at the Ledger Independent in Maysville, Ky. While at the Ledger Independent, he did the design and layout of daily sports pages while maintaining the department's website and social media platforms. As a writer, Montavon covered high school sports of a two-state, seven-county area as well as regional college and professional sports such as the Cincinnati Reds, Cincinnati Bengals, University of Cincinnati and the Ohio State University.
Montavon resides in Danville and has a daughter, Emerson, and a son, Carter.
