Liam Halferty joined the Centre Athletics staff as Director of Athletic Communications and Multimedia Services in the summer of 2015.
Halferty arrived at Centre after a two-year stint in the Sports Information department at Edinboro University in Pennsylvania, where he worked as a primary contact for several varsity sports while also earning a Master’s degree in Communication Studies.
While at Edinboro, Halferty also worked for the Erie BayHawks, NBA D-League affiliate of the Orlando Magic, as the team’s gameday statistician, and was also a member of the camera crew for the Erie SeaWolves, the Detroit Tigers’ Double-A affiliate.
Halferty is a graduate of Westminster College in New Wilmington, Pa., where he worked as a Sports Information Assistant and helped produced the school’s media guides and game notes while earning a Bachelor’s Degree in Broadcast and Digital Communications. He also lettered for four years on the Westminster baseball team and two seasons playing basketball for the Titans.
In addition to his tenures at Edinboro and Westminster, Halferty was a sports reporter at the New Castle News as well as a producer of video content at WPXI-TV in Pittsburgh. He produced a documentary film, “The Heartbeat of Lawrenceville”, highlighting the century-old St. Mary’s Lyceum gymnasium in the Lawrenceville neighborhood of Pittsburgh.
